Why the GOP hates the Democrats

An Elephant Never Forgets

The GOP uses an elephant as it's symbol for a reason. A good deal of the hate that the republicans have for democrats is rooted in the FDR era. These powerful and wealthy men controlled labor with an iron fist until Roosevelt came along. In 1932 the masses of common people had taken enough punishment from them. They turned out in droves to elect a president who had more than the will of the corporate bosses in mind. The depression really took them by surprise because they had bought the line that the wealthy bankers and company owners had been selling. They invested in the stock market and worked long hours for a small and totally unregulated wage. When Roosevelt told them they were being used unfairly by the bosses they finally stood up to them and embraced the "New Deal". This radical sweeping change in the policies of government was hailed by ordinary people but, the old guard was frightened to their core by it. The minimum wage laws and the social security act forced them to give a fair wage and limited the control over employees that they had enjoyed.

They hated Roosevelt for what most openly referred to as communist programs like the WPA, and the CCC. They have never forgotten how much power they lost to the workers and they still will tell you about how the New Deal ruined America. The old republicans are to this day still working to remove the protections that the new deal gave to working Americans and many won't give up until they see every last vestige of it gone.

We are seeing now the end game strategy, if they can convince the fools who elected them that this is not a bad thing they will succeed at their plan to return you to the days of officially sanctioned 60 hour weeks. They will say that it is time to end the federal minimum wage standards and the labor board will go the way of the dinosaur. We will be virtual serfs to the wealthy who will continue to hire people at lower wage levels until they have complete control over the people they employ.

I know that many of you won't believe this. I understand, most people don't realize the vast difference in working now with the protection that the new deal put in place, and the horror of living in abject poverty and fear that existed before.

They won't believe it until it happens.

We're a;ready at the stage where we no longer have citizenry but parrots. I'm so sick and tired of hearing that "America is the greatest country in the World!" from people who haven't the slightest clue about what America really is...

I just hope I can die before the GOP finds the success they are working for.

Fear mongers are loose amongst us all. The doom and gloom crowd with nothing good to say or share. Malaise is the order of the day and that my friends will never change...democrats have and will continue to lie, cheat, twist the truth to justify their positions, and concoct some wild tales. They will tell a story about evil republicans in a heartbeat yet when one of their own is involved all that can be heard is silence. When Sandy Berger was "observed" if you will, the left was silent. In fact most of the online message boards ay prominent web sites were basically empty of leftist represenation. This was so reminiscent of Nov. 3, 2004 as the same thing occurred. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

You really need to read "Modern Times" by Paul R. Johnson. Then come back and talk to us about the Great Depression, Hoover, FDR and the New Deal.

You are sadly misinformed.

RE: 10:34 PM

The whole current wave of Baby Boomer / hippie / Red Radical structures (in the Democrat Party, and sadly, even a few in the GOP - not to mention, in the private sector as well) holds up as a god Saul Alinsky. In today's version of the late 1960s - early 1970s radicalism, you can clearly see all of the principles which appeared in "Rules for Radicals."

Sadly, not only are there a whole, numerous host of old fart radicals, but also, they managed to infect a substantial minority of Xers (via univerity propagandizing) and naturally, their own kids, the Yers and older Zers, are completely brainwished.

Ugly days are coming.

As long as we have Americans such as Berkeley Guy that is NOT afraid to speak his(?) mind, America will remain safe from those people that would send us into the control of a repressive government.
